An unusual cello by the Venice-based luthier, with a rosette that harks back to his German training and influences. Includes measurements

‘Every Gofriller scroll seems improvised ? if he used a template it was treated as the loosest guide ? yet they all have the same stance and character. This early model doesn’t show his more extreme traits, but the style is truly established. There is something very viol-like about the way the pegbox unrolls slowly and the volutes lean backward.’ ?
